A rate proportional to your income

Since 2025, the parental financial contribution (PFP) in an ONE-subsidised childcare facility follows a progressive 4-bracket scale, applied to the household's net monthly income, with a capped daily rate and reductions based on family composition.

An income floor that protects childcare funding

For a full-time worker, a minimum income of €1,417.41/month is used even if the declared income is lower, except for households with BIM status or self-employed people working as a secondary occupation.

This is an anti-under-reporting rule: a full-time salary cannot fall below the guaranteed minimum income. It therefore does not target part-time workers, jobseekers, students or people unfit for work, whose income is legitimately lower. If you enter an income below this floor, the calculator asks whether you work full time, and applies the floor only if you do.

What this calculator does not do

It does not cover the old scale applicable to children who joined before 1 January 2025, nor shared custody situations (which require 2 separate PFP files). It also does not recalculate a self-employed person's reference income from their tax assessment, this amount must be known beforehand.

Frequently asked questions

Why does this calculator only cover children who joined from 2025 onwards?

ONE applies a dual system: an old 139-bracket scale for children who joined before 1 January 2025, and a new progressive 4-bracket scale for those joining from that date. The old scale only concerns already-open files, which are gradually phasing out, it is not modelled here.

Why is the calculation progressive by bracket?

As with personal income tax, each income bracket is taxed at its own percentage, not your entire income at the highest bracket's rate. A €3,000 income, for example, is not taxed entirely at 12.8%: the first €1,042 at 3.5%, the rest up to €3,000 at 12.8%.

Why do I have a minimum rate even with a low declared income?

ONE applies an income floor of €1,417.41/month for a full-time worker (employee or self-employed), except for BIM status or self-employed as a secondary occupation. If your declared income is below this floor, this floor amount is used as the basis for the calculation. The floor does not apply if you do not work full time (part-time, unemployment, studies, unfitness for work): the calculator asks the question as soon as the income you enter falls below that level, and then uses your actual income.

I am self-employed, why this specific warning?

The reference income used by ONE for a self-employed person is a figure smoothed over a full year (via an official multiplier coefficient), not your current month's income. This tool does not recalculate this smoothing, check with your childcare facility or accountant to know this amount before using this tool.

What is the BIM status and why does it make childcare free?

The BIM status (increased health insurance intervention) is granted to households with modest incomes. Since 2023, it makes childcare in an ONE-subsidised facility entirely free, without requiring a social investigation.
